Chandraghanta Mata Puja is performed on the third day of Navratri, honoring the third form of Devi Durga, the embodiment of strength and courage. Here's a breakdown of the puja method and mantras:


Vedic Origin - Eight hands of this goddess hold weapons, while the gestures of remaining two hands indicate bestowing a boon and stopping harm. This Durga Shakti rides a tiger. With the blessings of Maa Chandraghanta, all sins of the worshipper get washed out, and all the obstacles also get cleared from his/her path. Her worship provides instant results. By worshipping Maa Chandraghanta, one can get rid of all the worldly sorrows and fears. The devotee also becomes brave, and they can spontaneously attain their ultimate objective. We want success in all the areas of life. The success in profession is also very important to move ahead in life. .

देवी चंद्रघंटा माता पार्वती या देवी दुर्गा के नौ रूपों में से एक है और नवरात्रि के तीसरे दिन व्यापक रूप से देवी चंद्रघंटा की पूजा की जाती है। जो कोई भी इस रूप में देवी दुर्गा की पूजा करता है, उसे जीवन में शाश्वत सुख और सफलता प्राप्त होती है। उन्हें जीवन की हर समस्या से निपटने की शक्ति प्राप्त होती है। वह मणिपुर चक्र की देवी हैं, जो नाभि में स्थित है और सूर्य द्वारा शासित है।

देवी दुर्गा (devi durga) को नारी शक्ति माना जाता है, जो ब्रह्मांड की मां हैं। वह ब्रह्मांड में सभी चीजों के निर्माण, संरक्षण और विनाश के लिए जिम्मेदार हैं। युगों से मां दुर्गा को सर्वोच्च शक्ति के रूप में देखा गया है और कई हिंदू शास्त्रों जैसे यजुर्वेद, वाजसनेयी संहिता और तैत्तिरीय ब्राह्मण में इसका उल्लेख किया गया है। मां दुर्गा माता पार्वती की ही अभिव्यक्ति हैं। उनमें देवी लक्ष्मी, देवी सरस्वती और देवी काली की संयुक्त शक्ति मौजूद है। मां चंद्रघंटा, मां दुर्गा का शांतिपूर्ण रूप हैं। उन्हें समर्पित मंत्र की मदद से आंतरिक और बाहरी नकारात्मक शक्तियों से सुरक्षा मिलती है।


Maa Chandraghanta Mantra for the third day of Navratri: Om Cham Cham Cham Chandraghantaye Hrum. (Chant 108 times).

Prasad of the third day: Revdi i.e. mixture of white sesame seeds and jaggery.

Navratri Worship - Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day of Navratri.

Preparation:

  • Cleanse yourself: Take a bath before the puja to purify your body and mind.
  • Puja materials:
    • Murti (idol) of Maa Chandraghanta (ideally made of copper or clay)
    • Kalash (pot) with mango leaves placed on top and filled with water
    • Diya (oil lamp) with ghee or oil
    • Cotton wick
    • Kumkum (red powder)
    • Haldi (turmeric powder)
    • Sindoor (vermillion)
    • Akshata (unbroken rice grains)
    • Flowers (ideally red)
    • Fruits
    • Sweets (optional)
    • Betel nut and leaf (paan)
    • Coconut
    • Incense sticks
    • Gangajal (holy water)
    • Aasana (seat) made of cloth or durpatta

Puja Vidhi (Method):

  1. Sthapana (Placement): Spread the aasana in a clean and quiet place. Place the kalash on it, filling it with water and mango leaves. Light the diya with ghee or oil.
  2. Pranapratishtha (Invoking life force): Chant "Om Apohivam Pavitrava..." while sprinkling Gangajal on yourself, the puja area, and all the puja items.
  3. Aavahan (Invocation): Invite Maa Chandraghanta to reside in the murti by chanting "Om Chandraghantayai Namah: Aavahayami."
  4. Panchamrut Snan (Five Nectar Bath): Prepare Panchamrit by mixing milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar. Bathe the murti with Panchamrit, followed by Gangajal.
  5. Vastra and Abhushan (Clothing and Ornaments): Offer a clean cloth (saree) to the murti. Decorate the murti with kumkum, haldi, and sindoor. Offer flowers and ornaments.
  6. Pushpa and Patra (Flowers and Leaves): Offer red flowers and betel nut with leaf (paan) to the Devi.
  7. Naivedya (Offering): Offer fruits and sweets as prasad (offering) to Maa Chandraghanta.
  8. Aarti: Perform aarti with the diya, chanting mantras or devotional songs dedicated to Maa Chandraghanta.
  9. Mantras: Chant the following mantras throughout the puja:
  10. Parikrama (Circumambulation): Walk around the puja area clockwise, circling the murti three times.
  11. Samapti (Completion): Chant "Om Idam Namastasyai Cha Durgaayai Namah:" Plead for forgiveness for any mistakes made during the puja.
  12. Prasad Distribution: Distribute the offered fruits and sweets (prasad) as blessings from Maa Chandraghanta.

Puja Steps:

  1. Prepare the Altar: Clean the puja area and place the idol or image of Chandraghanta Mata on a clean cloth or altar. Decorate it with flowers and other offerings.

  2. Invocation (Pran Pratishtha): Light the diya and incense sticks. Invoke the presence of Chandraghanta Mata by chanting the following mantra:

    • "ॐ देवी चंद्रघण्टायै नमः॥"
    • "Om Devi Chandraghantayai Namah॥"
  3. Offerings (Pushpanjali): Offer fresh flowers, fruits, and sweets to Chandraghanta Mata while reciting her mantras.

  4. Aarti: Perform aarti by waving the lit diya or camphor in front of the idol or image while singing aarti songs or chanting mantras.

  5. Prayer and Mantra Chanting: Sit quietly and meditate on Chandraghanta Mata. Offer your prayers and chant her mantras with devotion.

  6. Distribution of Prasad: Distribute the prasad (offered sweets or fruits) to family members and devotees.

  7. Final Blessings: Conclude the puja by ringing the bell and seeking the blessings of Chandraghanta Mata for happiness, prosperity, and protection.

Chanting this mantra with devotion during the puja or as a daily practice is believed to invoke the blessings of Chandraghanta Mata for courage, strength, and victory over obstacles.
