Most of the diseases related to the stomach are due having excess of Vata Dosha or Pitta Dosha. Vata Dosha is excess of wind element. Disease like flatulence and bloating are result of Vata Dosha. Mars and Ketu are more likely to cause ulcers, acid reflux and heartburn compared to Sun. Sun normally gives good health and good digestion. Unless in a very bad condition Sun is unlikely to cause stomach problems. Since all three are planets which have fire element in abundance things like inflamattion and acid reflux happen due to them.
Saturn is responsible for constipation and flatulence. Saturn has excess of wind element which causes problems related to passing of stool and wind formed by certain foods.
Venus and Moon are normally responsible for diarrhoea and vomit. Basically passing of food in liquid form via mouth or anus.
Mercury is the normally the main culprit who along with other planets causes stomach ailments of all kinds especially indigestion and nausea. Mercury has excess of earth element which doesn't allow food, digestive fluids and air to mix whereby causing indigestion.
Normally the earthy signs like Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are most affected by indigestion, nausea, flatulence and acid reflux.
The watery signs like Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are more liable to diarrhoea or vomit. They can also see heartburn, acid reflux as well as bloating.

Glass of butter milk with cumin powder is also great for digestion. Butter milk is suitable for lactose intolerant people as it contains minimum lactose.

- Roast ’harad’ in cow’s ghee and grind it. Add it to any garam masala or any spices used for cooking and have it with water.
- Those having pain in the stomach or having gas issues should use ‘Elaichi’ in the food or in the rice.
- Eat Manukka at night so that constipation is avoided.
- Use of asafoetida is recommended in food especially in lentils.
- Avoid eating food late at night. Avoid eating stalefood.
- Avoid eating junk food as it leads to gas and hyperacidity. Chant ‘Om Brim BrahspataayeNamah’ daily. It will help to reduce tendency of eating junk food and help make choice of healthy foods.
- To stop gas problems, drink lukewarm water after a meal. To this water, add ½ squeezed lemon juice, roasted jeera, black salt andasafoetida.
- To get rid of vaat, add black salt to tamarind water. It also makes you feel hungry.
- For good stomach, have water in which rice has been boiled. Add black pepper and black salt to this water before drinking. Have it 1 hour before meals twice a day.
- For pitta or acidity, have cold milk You can also take 2 spoons of amla juice with same amount of mishri sugar and drink slowly.
- If you suffer from acidity, drink water which has been boiled with 4-5 tulsi leaves in it slowly after food. Also having jaggery or fennel seeds after a meal helps reduce acidity.
- A mixture of 25 gms thyme, red elaichi and camphor, 10 gms of clove oil, cardamom oil and 25 gms peppermint should be kept in sunlight. This oil can be used when one suffers from pain. If you are having gas problem, you can have 2 drops of this oil in water.
- If stomach problems are due to Mahadasha and Antardasha of Rahu, A Gomedh (Hessonite Garnet) stone of 5 ¼ carat fitted in a silver ring after washing in unboiled milk or clean water should be worn on a Saturday. It is said to give relief. Also, ‘Om BhramBhreemBhoumSahaRahaveNamah’( the Rahu mantra) should be chanted for relief.
